Smoke Ventilation Systems
Smoke ventilation is a life-safety system, not a comfort one. When a fire breaks out in a multi-storey building, car park, or commercial premises, the ventilation system has to clear smoke from escape routes fast enough for everyone inside to get out. We design, install, test, and commission those systems for main contractors, consultants, and building owners across Halifax, Leeds, Bradford, and the wider North.
Most of the work falls into three buckets: corridor and stairwell smoke clearance for residential blocks, AOV (automatic opening vent) systems for shared escape routes, and car park ventilation for under-croft and basement carparks. Every system is designed to BS EN 12101 and the local building control plans. We coordinate with the rest of the M&E trades on site so the install drops in cleanly.
Pricing varies because every building is different. Smaller AOV swaps for stair pressurisation start around £3,000. Full new-build car park ventilation systems with fans, ductwork, control panels, and full commissioning run up to £15,000 and beyond. We quote against the spec, not on guesswork.
After install we run the full commissioning programme: pressure tests, fan rotation, smoke clearance timings, control panel logic, and the final O&M handover. You get a complete file of test results and certification ready for building control sign-off. We also stay available for the annual servicing the regulations require.
