Axial Smoke-Extract Fan Replacement in Westminster

The brief

An axial fan forming part of a smoke ventilation system in Westminster had reached the end of its life and needed replacing. The plant space had very limited access, which made getting the old fan out and the new one in the real challenge.

What we did

• Assessed the restricted access and planned a safe removal and install method
• Used specialist lift equipment to support and manoeuvre the fan in the confined space
• Removed the old axial fan, installed the replacement and reconnected and tested it

The result

The new fan is installed and running as part of a fully working smoke ventilation system, completed safely despite the awkward access.
